3rd Retail Summit & Post-Audit Best Practices Forum

“A Call to Action: Implementing Best Practices in Post-Audit Recovery.”

The 2006 Retail Forum provided the opportunity to review best practice implementation case studies and gathered final input for key tools being developed to improve post-audit recovery business practices. Topics included:


Best Practices in Post-Audit Recovery Findings and Recommendations: A review of the best (and worst) practices in post-auditing, collected from the combined perspectives of over 150 retailers, vendors and post-audit leaders. Promotional Agreement Design Elements (Deal Sheet): Best practices and key elements to include in your promotional agreement design to clearly document intent of the buyer and seller. Post-Audit Policies & Guidelines Format: A template serving as a benchmark for individual retailers to incorporate all relevant aspects of their post-audit policies into a document that provides clarity, consistency, and comprehension of the methods used to identify post-audit claims. Post-Audit Code of Conduct “Blueprint” : A self-governance charter to enhance relationships between retailers, manufacturers, and post-audit firms to drive industry trust and cooperation.

With this knowledge and access to these tools, attendees benefited through an enhanced ability to: (i) prevent errors generally caused by data gaps and confusion around buyer/seller intent, (ii) eliminate practices that both retailers and manufacturers concur are “worst” practices and implement those considered “best” practices, (iii) build policies and guidelines that improve communication between all stakeholders, building trust, improving efficiency and effectiveness, and enabling everyone to spend less time on post-audit issues.
